Ramundberget's Fjällgård - a classic mountain hotel dating back to the 1930s

Yes, this is the very heart of Ramundberget. The village church.
We'll tell you why.

Ramundberget's Fjällgård is located at the very foot of the mountain, in our beautiful valley, where the road comes to an end and an undisturbed mountain world takes over. The Fjällgård lift just 50 metres outside the door transports you up the mountain. Well-groomed ski trails are right around the corner. In other words – an unbeatable location.

When you enter Fjällgården you're met by the welcoming smell of the open fireplace, the polished floors and freshly brewed coffee. It's warm and peaceful here.

The tables are beautifully laid, the wine cellar well stocked. Fresh air, spa, pool and gym one floor down, smiling personnel – if you choose Fjällgården you will never regret it.

Comfortable, charming, tasteful

Accommodation at Fjällgården always includes Mor Brita's breakfast buffet and a carefully composed three-course dinner after a day on the mountain or in the slopes (weekends in November and December include a single course dinner). We use locally produced food as far as possible. The meat we serve in Mor Brita's restaurant comes from cows that graze in Bruksvallarna and we bake our own bread. Water comes from our very own source.

One floor down

Pelle Lindsjö, our restaurant manager explains about wine, gastronomy and that other thing. He provides tips on what makes life that little bit more… well, Pelle only reveals everything down in the wine cellar. Take the opportunity to test wines that are produced with care and respect for the climate, origin and tradition.

A life with food and drink – we hope you'll join us one floor down…

Children are happy here

We think it's important that children feel safe and have fun when they are here.  That’s why we have a large playroom and a cosy TV corner. TV in the hotel room? Not really, at Fjällgården we like to talk to each other, play games and spend time together.  TV News exists of course as well as free Wi-Fi for all guests.

How did Ramundberget's Fjällgård become what it is today?

We can thank Agaton and Brita Norberg and their seven children for our existence. The weather-beaten faces of these village ancestors age look out over Fjällgården's rooms from black and white photos. We share and continue their vision for Ramundberget as an authentic small-scale mountain hotel, away from the mass produced and easily consumed.

It started already in 1935 when some students came skiing over the mountain and stayed in the tourist association's cabin Girtibauna, six kilometres northwest of Ramundberget.

The following year they wanted to bring their girlfriends with them and asked if they could stay at the farm with Agaton and Brita Norberg's family. There was enough space to accommodate them in the farmhouse. There were animals in the barn so they could produce food themselves. The only things missing were beds.

Father Agaton turned to his brother-in-law who was a manager of a shop and asked to buy 10 beds on credit. The brother-in-law thought he was crazy for wanting to get in to debt like that, but managed to be persuaded.

When the students wanted to pay after their visit, Agaton requested SEK 2.50 per person per day, a shy request that would at least cover the cost of the beds.  Upon departure, the guests left an envelope with double the amount that was requested. This generosity strengthened his resolve and the tourist époque was born.

Ramundberget's Fjällgård is managed today with the same feeling and has been owned by the Flacké family for more than 20 years. Guests should feel welcome here and those of us who have the privilege to take care of Ramundberget's traditions do so with pleasure and love for Fjällgården.

We hope we can convey part of this to you our guests.
